About the Author

Carrie S. Masek has been telling stories since she was three and discovered she got into less trouble when she provided creative explanations for the chaos that swirled around her. It took her almost forty years to start writing her stories down. Carrie now lives in a comfortably messy house on Chicago's North Shore. Contributing to the chaos are her husband, four children, a ditzy dog and an opinionated house rabbit.

5 Cups! Sometimes superior writing can lift an overdone subject out of the ordinary into the rare. This is what happens with Carrie Masek’s vampire story — an old subject which has been rehashed many times since the original few, like Dracula and Camilla. But this writer’s absolutely beautiful prose lifts it up and gives it life and passion. The best writing is invisible. It puts you inside the story so completely that you become involved with the characters and their lives as if they were real. And Masek writes so seamlessly that you don’t feel the transition. I reserve the top rating of five cups for books that either carry a life-changing message or are so well-written that they capture and hold my attention until the end.
