Mari's Miracle
The Heart Junction Series Book Three
|
Heart Junction, South Dakota, 1914
Marigold Mahoney is livid. Her father, in what she sees as a momentary maniacal manipulation, has insisted she leave his palatial home in Minneapolis to teach school in the dusty little town of Heart Junction.
Grit Truman has been farming on rented land near Heart Junction to earn enough money to buy his own farm. To raise extra money, Grit opens a mechanic's shop to service farm equipment and newfangled automobiles which are beginning to appear in Heart Junction. When Mari's father offers him a job servicing the car he's provided for his daughter and a job driving Mari wherever she wants to go, he quickly accepts Mahoney's offer. He is both irritated and delighted to meet Miss Mahoney. The little spoiled spitfire, who is capable of driving sane men completely crazy with a bat of her eye, just happens to be the most attractive woman he's ever met.
Mari needs a diversion from her dreary country life. The tall, imposing, terribly masculine Grit Truman seems the perfect distraction—even if he is another of her father's watch dogs. When Marigold eventually realizes that Grit has stolen her heart, she has a good mind to let him keep it. But can she really have a serious relationship with a man whose background is so different from her own? Answers are never easy in matters of the heart, and Mari soon learns that, for the first time in her life, she can't have everything her own way.
