Reviews
"—Tempe Crabtree makes a fine modern heroine as she juggles the demands of career and family as a responsible and caring human being. Newly married to a Christian pastor and having a grown son, she learns to blend the customs and roles from two very different cultures into one genuine family. A grown-up "Nancy Drew", Tempe Crabtree is sure to develop a following just as loyal. —Karen Meek, Over My Dead Body
"Though this is the first Tempe Crabtree mystery, Meredith provides much insight into the characters so that the readers feel they previously met them. At the same time, the intriguing who-done-it provides many viable suspects with motives, means, and opportunities that surface as the book progresses. The addition of attaining understanding and knowledge about life on the Bear Creek Indian reservation adds depth to an entertaining tale. Fans of Native American mysteries will take much pleasure from Deadly Omen and want similar stories from Ms. Meredith." —Harriet Klausner, Reviewer.
"I like Tempe and her capacity to hold her own against all pressures, even her own guilt, and I'm taken with a series that puts two spiritual traditions side by side with neither being the right or the only one." —Lesley Kelles Payne, Independent Editor.
"Set against the drumbeats and dances of a Pow Wow, Deadly Omen builds to an exciting climax as the reader absorbs the color and culture of this unique mountain community." —Author Penny Warner.
"Fascinating detail and well paced. Deputy Crabtree , her family and her tribe all come to life in this exciting mystery as Crabtree is forced to recognize her own Indian heritage and gives us a glimpse ala Tony Hillman/Jean Hager into the life of Native Americans." —Author Serita Stevens
"Marilyn Meredith creates a loveable, and real, sleuth. Look for Tempe Crabtree to become a recognizable name in the detective business. Killer dialogue and a plot to die for makes Deadly Omen a must-read." —Denise Dietz, author of Footprints in the Butter.
